GALT CC GOLF LEARNING CENTRE SKILL LEARNING SESSIONS
Aligning with the CN Future Links Program the Galt CC Junior Skill Learning Sessions will focus on the fundamentals, rules, and etiquette of the game. The program will also include activities that assist in developing a wide athletic base. The sessions will be fast-paced as the participants will rotate through stations that emphasize progressive skills and physical training. Fundamental movement skill training is done in conjunction with golf skill training to make the sessions more active and increase the rate of short and long-term development in golf. The golf skill training and activities will be based on what is recommended for the age group and stage of athletic development.

ACTIVE START (ages 5-8)
OBJECTIVE Learn fundamental movements and link them together in play.
INTRODUCTION This is an important period for acquiring fundamental movement skills which will lay the foundation for more advanced movements. Children are encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle by promoting golf at an early age. In this stage, children should be provided the opportunity to develop a variety of fundamental movement skills such as traveling skills, object control skills, and balance movements.

These sessions will be under the watchful eye of Galt CC PGA Professionals. (maximum 8-1 junior to PGA Professional ratio)

8-week program May 15th – July 3rd, Saturdays: 10 am – 11 am
Fee: $200 + hst

For any questions please contact Carly at cshane@galtcountryclub.com

FUNDAMENTALS (ages 9-12)
OBJECTIVE Learn fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills.
INTRODUCTION Fundamentals should focus on the development of physical literacy. The fundamental movement skills introduced in Active Start should continue to be developed and build towards the development of motor skills. The child’s participation in many different sports and activities should be encouraged. Fun activities can also be introduced at this stage in a team environment. The introduction of golf-specific skills will occur during this stage.

These sessions will be under the watchful eye of Galt CC PGA Professionals. (maximum 8-1 junior to PGA Professional ratio)

8-week program May 15th – July 3rd, Saturdays: 10 am – 11 am

LEARN TO GOLF (ages 11-14)
OBJECTIVE Continue to develop fundamental movement skills and golf fundamental movement skills.
INTRODUCTION Learn to Golf is the beginning of a critical window to develop fine motor skills. During this phase, players have the best opportunity to learn and master fine motor skills that can be used in combination with other skills (i.e. balance and swinging the club at the same time). In most cases, what is learned and not learned during this stage could have a very significant effect on the level of play that is achieved in the later stages of a player’s development.

These sessions will be under the watchful eye of Galt CC PGA Professionals. (maximum 8-1 junior to PGA Professional ratio)
