22nd Annual Galt CC Senior Men’s Invitational

Monday, August 28, 2023

Paul and I had been members of another club where Paul and Darryl Gueguen ran the Senior Tournament for a number of years.

In 1997 we joined Galt Country Club and enjoyed the hospitality of the members.  Paul was proud to be a member of Galt CC and loved playing the course.  Paul thought Galt CC should have a Senior invitational.  He approached the Head Pro, who at that time was Dave Smallwood, and after many meetings, it was decided to start a Galt Seniors’ Invitational in 1998.  Our experience with senior tournaments at our previous club came in handy, having names, address,es and later on emails of many players. The tournament was held each year on the last Monday in June and it was great to see how well it was attended.  Our tournament was enjoyed by many who participated and we were lucky to have great weather for every tournament.

I very much enjoyed helping Paul and watching him mingle with his many friends from different courses. We ran the tournament until Paul’s health failed when some of Paul’s friends stepped in and continued the tradition of offering the Paul Weber Memorial Trophy.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories.

Kathy Weber
